Hy Bird is a tank before 40, and I'm sure that the 2.50 gears have something to do with it. But another thing is that my car, when puchased, never had a kickdown on it and I never bothered to put one on. While i hope that soon neither my edelbrock carb and my FMX will be leaving my car in hopes of injection and a five gear, I am currently driving the car everyday. I need a kickdown, so what'll it take to get it to hook up with my Edelbrock carb (I'm sure I can find a kickdown somewhere in one of my junkers.) Any suggestions?

Lee,

To hook up a kickdown linkage to an edelbrock four barrel you'll have to purchase the kit that edelbrock sells for the purpose, then get a kickdown linkage, like you said, off a junker. In my experience i also had to lengthen the kickdown linkage a bit to hook up to the carb in the correct place. I fabricated an extension out of a piece of brass pipe that works just fine. If you wish, I'll go to the edelbrock website and look up the part number of the kit you need. Don't worry; its not very expensive at all.

Isn't there a hole on the bottom of the throttle edelbrock carb linkage? I know there is a hole on top where the throttle cable goes, but should be a hole on the very bottom also.
