Hi, I'm new to this forum, just starting to do some work on my '56 Peacock Blue (originally Thunderbird Green). I wanted to replace the driver's door machined strip, I need to remove the interior door handle and power seat control to do that. How do I remove them? I have a generic door and window handle C clip removal tool, will that work and how do I orient it? Also, does the power seat control pop out or what? Thanks for any help, don't want to mess up this stuff.

The C Clip removal tool goes in from the handle end. They are kind of tricky to use. If you have the plastic rub thing under the handle, try to get the tool between the plastic thing and the handle. If you are having problems, go to a body shop and they should help you. I usually put masking or electrical tape on the side of the tool that contacts the machined strip, , but if you are going to replace the machined strip it isn't necessary.

The power seat control is held in with small clips. Once you have the handles off pull back the upholstery panel and you can see them. Usually, the controller just pulls out.
