Ok so I have a Holley 4160, 1850-4, 600 CFM carburetor on my '63 bird. When I got the car it hadn't run in about 14 years so I figured the carb would need cleaning. After a can of carburetor cleaner I was able to get the car running pretty good but it is running really rich so I decided to clean it and put a refresh kit in it. While taking it apart, I found the secondary float was screwed all the way down so I adjusted it according to the instructions as well as the primary. I put it all back together and got it on the car and now the car hardly runs, spewing black smoke out the exhaust. If you screw the float level almost all the way down on the primary, the car idles ok but starves on throttle. The fuel/air mixture screws do not help either. I also noticed gas dripping from the venturi into the intake on the primarys which I know is part of the problem. What CFM carburetor should be on this car? Should I just go ahead and replace it with another Holley (why / why not) Is the Holley 0-1850S the same carburetor only updated?
