I have a freeze plug leaking on my 66 with the 428 eng. I plan to replace all the freeze plugs on both sides of the eng. block. What is the correct size, and do these engines use freeze plugs on the rear of the block?

Freeze plugs

The FE engines were originally built with six (three per side) core plugs. Size as assembled by Ford was 1 and 49/64 inches. If you are replacing them with the engine in the car, you will probably use 1 and 3/4 inch plugs.

<html>Concluded I was just sold garbage steel freeze plugs with no galvanizing made in who-knows-where . I keep 2 gallons of Anti Freeze in the radiators even here in Daytona just for the rust protection of the water jackets. Have found 1 gallon just provided minimal rust protection.<p> <a href="http://www.wunderground.com/US/FL/Port_Orange.html"> <img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/banner/gizmotimetemp_both/language/www/US/FL/Port_Orange.gif" alt="Click for Port Orange, Florida Forecast" height=41 width=127><br> Daytona Beach </a>
