I know I'm asking a lot of questions lately, but i have two more. First off are all the frames under each 77-79 bird the same? I was planning on using a 79 frame for my 78. Also, is there any "superior" frame?
My second question is even wierder yet. Although I have my heart set on a EFI 460, my dad want's a 4.6 in his 79 bird. Anyone done it?

hehahahaha wow now THERES an original idea!

yes all the frames are the same basically. the strongest one being from the troof cars. (hint hint)

there were a ton of bodies that shared this frame, ltd II, torino, cougar, elite, tbird, montego (mx & gt), ranchero, etc.

Hey Paul,
What's the diff between a standard frame and a t top frame? I've got all thses cars, but none have the cool glass roof. Is there just an extra cross member or somethin? Just wondering....

Lee

the ttop frame does have a few extra "amenities" and is typically stronger due to the lack of roof!

but since these cars are full framed anyway, its not likely you'll tweak youre frame no matter which one you go with.

i have a question about getting a hydraulics setup for my bird, i was wondering if the frame would need strengthening or if i would have to modify anything under there to go low? it looks pretty smooth under there and i probably would be able to get away with a few inches lowering (do they even make parts to lower a '79 thunderbird?) im kinda new at this its my first car eh

I know they make lowering springs from Eibach or through PST, but as for hydralics, I've never seen a kit. I think it's more of a make your own setup deal, but I could be wrong. Hope I helped you out.
