Exaust question

The stock 94/95 tbird exaust is absolutly a disgrace...

i have 2 questions

1) does this car really need a resonator ??

2) are their any losses to going true dual ? It looks like it would be SOOO easy to do, would it sound just like a 4.6 mustang ?

You could go with a true dual with the use of an X or H pipe for equalization. It should do nothing but help the car, and provide you with a few more ponies. I know the resonator is good to have on an SC, but with a V8 it will most likely sound good without one. It might not sound exactly like a 4.6 stang, but pretty damn close! I say go for it! I have a 90 SC, so I had to swap my fuel tank to a 92+, but you won't have to obviously. So I went with 2-1/4" down tubes, high flow cats, magnaflow resonator, 3" center into a pair of Borla mufflers, and it sounds great for a V6. Just go to a good exhaust shop, and tell them what you want, should make a world of difference!

I had put a full exhaust into mine....no cats, no resonators, and some dynomax super turbo mufflers to finish it off.

The first time I drove it, it felt like I picked up 100 pds of torque. Especially when I hit it from a 45 mph roll. And I had a shift kit in it, so if it was a little wet, I went sideways.

I highly recommend it.

I did a full system on the SC, patterned after the SupercoupePerformance.com system; hi-flow cats, Magnaflow res, 3" intermediate pipe, Dynomax mufflers.
Had the same system fabbed locally for half the price.

Sounds great!! Quiet; but Low-pitched and authoritative. Could only sound better on a V8.

Added good HP, too, according to my seat-o-pants meter.

hey, whats up, well any way i was wondeing if anybody knew if any performance companys made any exhaust, i want to get some for my 95 tbird, 4.6l. i want to put a good but not expensive exhaust on, lookin around 150 bucks, i have no problem with putting it on i just cant find any body that makes it.

While I'm answering this thread.
1) It keeps drone down.
2a) If you don't have enough added power, yes. You will kill your low-end torque by going true dual with a relatively stock setup.
2b) No, it won't sound just like a Mustang, completely different muffler positioning/pipe length.

this is what i am going to do, off the manifolds break the catalatic converters out and back to were it goes to the Y cut it and put 1 flow master on there.

I'm looking to do dual exhaust on my '95 as well. I am in the works of getting Borla custom made stainless steel pipes. I'm going for the low toned rumble that is easily heard. What's anyone think?

Has anyone else hollowed out the cats? I'd probably get high flow cats instead.I've heard of hollowing raising problems with the O2 sensors.
