Can anyone tell me what the original engine dress up kit components were? My '57 came with an additional set of chrome value covers with decals that say Thunderbird Special V8, and I'm wondering if these are part of the dress up kit option.

Thanks!

The '57 engine dress kit consisted of the cast aluminum rocker arm covers, a chrome plated oil filler cap, and a chrome plated top for the air cleaner. The engines without the dress up kit had stamped steel rocker arm covers painted black. The 312 had decals that said: "Thunderbird Special" along with a Y block logo.

Your rocker arm covers apparently are an expression of some individual's own tastes. (custom)

Thanks for the info, Tom. Looks like my car has the engine dress up kit - it's got the cast aluminum rocker arm covers, chrome oil filler cap, and chrome plated air cleaner lid. Thankfully, the chrome value covers came stowed in the trunk, with a bunch of other parts.
