57 bird 312 3spd OD frame up:
I'm mounting the engine / trans combo this week.
Any pointers for proper adjustment of the candlestick engine mounts?
These were the factors I asssumed I should follow:
1 Mount engine/trans assembly to the front mount and the trans mount
with candles sticks loose.
2 tighten bottom candles stick nuts (at frame - compress rubber spacers)
3 Run lower nut (at engine mount) until compression starts on the lower rubber mount (as it takes up some engine weight).
4 Tighten down upper bolt till full compression of rubber spacers.
It looks like a real judgement call on how to do this. Should I be setting the engine level to some benchmark? Like putting a level on the intake manifold, and assuring equal height on each side from the frame rails?
Did I mention how fun it is to be throwing away baggies that used to hold all of these various bolts and parts, as they go on to the frame? Yee hah!
