Have a 65 bird and seems after the past winter it now wants to act up when putting in reverse. I have back up lights if I adjust the position of the shift handle when in reverse but some times they are not on. I live in a state that req's inspection yearly so short of getting lucky the day I get it inspected I would like them to work properly all the time. It seems to be rather sloppy staying in park now also. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

You could try adjusting the tab on the shaft at the bottom of the steering-column that moves your neutral safety switch - worked for my '66.

And the not-staying-in-Park thing?
I ended up CAREFULLY grinding a notch deeper in the Park bit of the detent AND had a buddy build-up the worn part of the shifter lever.

Well I ended up replacing the lower column bushing. What an exceptionally exciting job. All is well again but I looked at the other 4 65 Birds here and only one still has the bushing intact and as luck would have it, its the parts car.
