Just got a 85 Turbo Coupe for my kid. The water pump was leaking so I changed that, thermostat, flushed everything and it runs good. One of the problems is the guy who I got it from wired the electric fan to a toggle switch because it wouldn't come on when the temp got higher. Is there a relay or temp sensor that tells the fan to come on at a certain temp? I was thinking I would hard wire the fan to come on when the key is in the run position. If I need to do that, where is a wire to splice into under the hood that I could do that?

If you take the glove box down there is a fan control unit mounted there. They are notorious for going bad. Right now my 86XR7 is hard wired to run when the car is on also. Everything I've read on NATO and the other fox site suggest these dont come on at a low enough temp to begin with so thats half the reason I havent fixed mine yet. I would guess your sons is a single fan set up being an 85?

I did hard wire it to a wire that I found under the hood that is hot when the key is in the run position. Seems fine now, I think I will let it run like it is for now.
