What can the forum tell me about converting my wife's 55 to 12 volt?(not how to do it, but reports of how it has gone for those who have done it or know of people who have.) We don't really drive it that much, but have been told it starts eaiser --etc.. I seem to remember one of the parts dealers offered a complete kit for the conversion. Is it worth the trouble? It is not a show car. Thanks in advance for your help!!

I'd say if it starts and charges pretty well, keep the 6v, particularly if you don't drive it, and aren't putting accessories on it. You get in trouble with 6v when you want to upgrade the radio, add AC, etc. That, and the ability to run smaller wire over longer distances was probably the main reason for going to 12v.

Most starting problems are ignition timing and fuel, not the voltage supplied.
