'55-'57 brake master cylinder

I have a '57 with manual brakes and I need to replace the master cylinder. I'm wondering if a master cylinder for a '57 with power brakes will work. The Ford Shop Manual states that the only difference between the two is the bore size. The one for manual brakes is 1" and the one for power brakes is 1 1/8".

Also, would this have any effect on the stopping ability?

The lager bore master cylinder will require more pedal effort to slow the car. Not sure how much more as I have never tried this swap. Should not be a dramatic difference.
