There is a guy in Terre Haute Indiana that has a carbed 460 in a Bird.
You should be able to use one of the many Mustang swap kits to put it in your bird. Most of both cars is the same.

Bring an 87 TC back from the dead!

My buddy in Albuquerque had a 460 crate motor in his 86 TC but it was carb'd. Tried running Holley Pro-Jection on it, but had too many computer conflicts. If you want his e-mail let me know...and I'll patch ya through... Oh, by the way, it ran consistant 11.87 @ 114 mph on pump gas and smoking the tires most of the way...

Love my 88 Sport!!

Rebuilding the 5.0 is probably a wise choice...better on fuel....easier on the rest of the drivetrain...easier to work on! Will you be using the original motor or are you swapping in an H.O. motor? I'd spend a few bucks more and go for the H.O. and get some bang for your buck! There's only so much you can do with the regular old 5.0 motors..especially without Mass Air! Either way, good luck, and have fun!!

i know, it is easier w/ the 302, and an HO upgrade wont hurt. i think a wrecked mustang would be the best for getting the parts, but i haven't found the right one yet. i just recently put 245/50/16 in the back. you never know, you might find a strong engine the other day.

by the way, i was offered a 4.6 out of a cougar, but i've heared that it could be a real pain in the a.. to get that thing to run the way it is supposed to run.

In 302 vs sohc 4.6, I don't think the 4.6 is worth the trouble. The HO 5.0 is a drop in with minimal wiring (mass air kit) and still has more potential than the 4.6.

Plus the parts are readily available for a twin turbo 5.0... I imagine that would really take people by surprise!
