I set the timing because there was pinging when the engine was under load - uphill, accelerating, etc. It worked, no more pinging. However, I subsequently learned that you're supposed to disconnect the distributor vacuum line when setting the timing. The line on mine is the original metal...

Out of the blue the driver side front end of my 62 is squeaking with any little movement. I haven’t looked yet, but does anyone know about grease fittings for this year? I’m hoping it is a task that can be done in a couple of hours. Thanks

Any thoughts about the 15" wheels? I have a sports roadster and it has the factory 14x5.5 wide wire wheels. The reproduction wire wheels are either 15x5 or 15x6. I was thinking the 15x6 but not sure if there will be any clearance problems.

I've read about that too. That would make more sense since I don't hear when stationary.

My 1963, 390 FE, has a soft tick when accelerating. I do not hear it when it is idling, including standing next to the engine with the hood open. I also do not hear it when revving it in neutral, which seems strange. Lifter seems to be the most likely, especially since the car sits all winter...

I saw info online (not tbird forum, I think maybe chevy) that corroborates what you say about filters. Their thoughts are that more restrictive filters will keep pressure down even after warm up. Good to know. Thanks!
