    brakes lock up

I've tried to post a reply to this twice but didn't get posted. I had that same problem with a car in the past. It turned out to be the brake hose to the wheel. It looked OK on the outside but was collapsing on the inside when the brake was released and not allowing the caliper to release. Like...

    Hood pad?

Did the 57 birds come with a hood pad attached to the underside of the hood? Like sound/heat padding. My hood looks like something was glued to the underside but I don't see hood pads available from any of the catalogs. Ken

    57 padded dash

I'm not at that point yet, but a question about installing the padded dash. I have the dash out of the car. The pad had been removed before I got the car. Is the best approach to put on the pad while the dash is out of the car or after it is installed? Thanks

    Idler arm bushings

Tom, I checked the manual, it says to assemble with "washers", I put a flat washer on the both ends of the bushings and that seems to have solved the problem. It is solid and turns easily. I think you are right about the old bearing type bushings being after market. Thanks for the advice. Ken

    Idler arm bushings

Hi Tom, The idler arm is 2 3/8" on one end and 3" on the other. The car is power steering with a cast bracket. The car is also an early 57. I don't know what "pilots" are. The threaded part of the arm is slotted for cotter pins, however with these bushings the nut would go well below the cotter...

    Idler arm bushings

The bushings that I removed from the idler arm (57 bird)look like plastic with bearings on top and bottom. The new bushings are press in with rubber inserts similar to the control arm bushings. When pressed into position they are shorter than the ones removed. Anyone know how to fill the space...

    frame coming off

I am new to this forum, would like some comments. I recently acquired a 57 Bird from the original owner. No rust, no dents, always garaged. I have the engine and interior out. I intend to take the frame out using a method I've used several times in the past with sedans, which is to remove the...
