    57 Wire Wheels

Tom How much clearance did you have befor the alteration, on each side and how much after. My car was about 1/16 inch off center - 3/16 on one side and 1/4 on the other. I managed to move that clearance out to 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Plenty of clearance now.

    57 Wire Wheels

Fender skirts and Spinners have always been a point of interference. Ford eliminated skirts when they put the KH wire wheels and spinners on the 62/63 Thunderbird Roadsters. This modification for the 57 bird looks fine and fits fine but it took me at least a week to look over and recheck the...

    57 Wire Wheels

Brian I may have found the answer. If you take the skirts off and lay them paint side down on a work bench you will notice there is a metal edge at the bottom that is bent 90 degrees inward. If you mark out the length of that fin that could be contacted by a spinner, add about one inch...

    Telescopic steering column

    T. Had the same problem with my 57 telescopeing column. I put a towel and a large pipe wrench on the rotating cylinder that locks the column in place. I gently applied some pressure and some light oil until I got it to move. Slowly applying pressues until the system would telescope and...

    1957 Build sheet Information

Brian - the interior came with the car. Looks like it was replaced in the last 10 years or less. Changed from white to red. I have replaced the garnish rails and that was about it. Looks pretty good but still needs some detail and screw replacements. Thanks for the complements.

    Manual Heater Control Kit

Tom I don't know when you posted this message... BUT I just finished the manual heater switch intallation available from CASCO. Simple direct and no big deal and it works fine. Well as fine as I think that heater can work. The temp control on the dash works a manual inline heater hose...

    57 Wire Wheels

I recently put wire wheels on my 57. The spinners are sure close to the skirts. Clearance of one quarter inch on one side and three sixteenth on the other. The body will shift that much on moderaterate cornering. So... what should I do? I could shave some metal off the skirt on the inside...

    Convertible Top Issues

Most of the relay problems result from the connector on the wireing harness not making a good connection as well of course relays filling full of water and rusting. There is an aftermarket replacement, solid state relays for the top systems. They work very well. The best solution is don't...

    Convertible Top Issues

AND... I understand that the orginal cylinders used brake fluid and had rubber seals. Replacement or later version cylinders use neoprene seals and require transmission fluid, and as indicated earler do not mix the two. What a major job to clean and rebuild the system. I am thankful that mine...

    Convertible Top Issues

Remember that if there were three cars setting side by side raising their tops, each would go up at a different speed. That could be entirely based on the pump pressure and the condition of the pump. If it is really slow you may need to rebuild the pump.

    Convertible Top Issues

It easy to expose the hydraulid pump in the rear passenger fender, accessing from the trunk, remove the plug to the resovour, using a turkey baster with a bulb on one end you can easly remove the fluid and put it in a glass jar. This will allow you to see the condition of the fluid and any...

    M Series Engine Parts

If you are looking for concourse quality you will have to match date numbers but other than that, the chrome kit is easy to do by having your (I believe it's 10) parts chromed that are on your engine now. The heads and manifolds are relatively easy to find. The distributer is harder but I...
