    Leftovers

I had to dump my '66 Town Landau; bunches of previously undetected rust caused major frame failure. I took the Emblem off of the front grill, I will take a picture tonight. It has some pits etc but it is not bad. I also have a shop manual (original, not a reprint); a car cover (heavy duty, car...

    what motor is this in my '66 - she's a 2bbl

Me too! I also have a two barrel setup although i think mine came from a '69. There is a number on a pad by the oil filter adapter. I have not had a chance to clean it up enough to read it but maybe thats the one?

Completely off topic but why would it matter if they knew the VIN (unless of course it is stolen)? :smilelol

    Mystery Engine

Yes, I am looking for correct fuel pump for the '69 engine. Can you folks tell me where on the block I can find the numbers that would permit identification of the engine? I suppose I could just get a fuel pump that fits a 69 390 (aftermarket) but I dont particularly feel like redoing the fuel...

    Mystery Engine

My 66 Town Landau has a two barrel carb and intake. I finally got some numbers off of the engine that I am hoping someone will recognize I also attached (I hope) a picture of the Carter Fuel pump I removed from the engine this weekend. ( I need to replace the fuel pump). I also had to remove the...

    Fuel Delivery Issues

I have confirmed that the fuel pump is not working and have also blown air back through the gas line to the tank so I know the guel line is not clogged. Now I go to remove the fuel pump and notice that the lines are attached to the bottom of the fuel pump; which means it is not the cannister...

    Fuel Delivery Issues

My intent was/is to replace with stock fuel pump. Since I already have a fuel filter at the carb i do not really need the filter on the pump. Since I do not need the filter at the pump I am not restricted to the original equipment. I am interested if anyone has replaced the stock one with an...

    Fuel Delivery Issues

I am getting no fuel to the carb. I put five gallons in the tank in case the gas gauge is broken; how much starter cranking should one have to do to see gas from the fuel line at the carb? I have done about five or six 10 second cranks and I am seeing nothing. Since it appears I will be...

    looking for a new carb

If you still have the 4100 let me know, I am interested. Somewhere along the line mine got switched to a 2-barrel and I want to get it back to the original. Mine is a '66 390.

    Here we Go!

Once I am able to steer the car I will get her running. Once I get her running I will put new carb on the wish list. It must be a close match to the four-barrel because all the linkages and kickdown etc all look perfect. And thank you for clarifying the coil terminal I.D. The adventure...

    Here we Go!

It looks like the 390 and the VIN has the "Z" code. The carb and the manifold both look original. The manifold is the same blue as the valve covers and looks old/original. Wouldnt the intake manifold have to be swapped as well (to use a 2-barrel carb)?

    Here we Go!

Couple of Things: I managed to remove the flexible coupling and the steering shaft. The upper bearing was trashed and I cannot tell if the plastic cone is down in the tube or not. I appreciate the input on the coupling, came out fairly easy. While I was under there I noticed that my Bird has a...

    Here we Go!

Not This Time I think I will just try it from the top. Have plenty of extensions , universals etc. Besides, my car has a lot of rust (i have only had her for a week) and I would be afraid to remove the fender tight now.

    Here we Go!

Excellent Did you do the repair from the top or from underneath. I can see it from the top but I have not tried to get a wrench in there yet.

    Here we Go!

Onward Does not sound too bad. Now to try and find one of the flexible couplings.
