    Selling 66 Town Landau

Here is the link to many pictures of the Tbird. TBIRD PICS FOR ADS album | Bob Hubbard | Fotki.com, photo and video sharing made easy. I have had the car for a little over four years. It underwent a restoration just before I purchased it. Some of the restoration included modification that...

    66 suspension

The gauge cluster is an aftermarket installation. It was put in by the previous owner before I got the car. It looks nice, but the gas gauge has never worked because the maker of the gauges (sun pro) says that the gauge will only work with their float for the tank, and I think the previous...

    66 suspension

If it were me, I would NOT just replace the shocks. If your springs are at the point where they no longer carry the load, you are risking a catastrophic failure if you are going to rely on the shocks to take the load. Those of us who have replaced front shocks are well aware that most (if...

    Antenna disconnection and cable

Do you have the lever for a power antenna on the upper consol? Bob.

    Antenna disconnection and cable

I am a bit confused here. Doesn't your 66 have a power antenna? Why would you need to unscrew it at the base so you can use a car cover? If it isn't a power antenna, I could understand it. I assumed all 66 birds had a power antenna. Bob.

Have '64 documents - looking for car owner

I checked the vin number, and it is not listed in the Thunderbird registry. Perhaps the car is long gone, or if it still has an owner, he/she isn't aware of the Thunderbird registry. Bob.

    66 Tbird front end

I did a little research, and came up with some figures. To begin with, looking at the two cars side by side, the front clip on the 66 is longer. Here are the figures.: all are in inches. 1965 and 1966 Width= 77.7--------------------77.3...

    66 Tbird front end

The front clip from a 65 wouldn't fit on a 66. The clip on the 66 is longer. Can you post some pictures of your car here? Bob.

    1966 Town Coupe radio removel

When I installed the new audio system in my 66, taking the consol apart was not all that difficult. Mine had screws holding the metal sides of the consol, as well as the chrome trim. I can't imagine your's would be any different. Now, you mentioned custom sound system. If that involves a...

    Is it the alternator?

A faulty battery would give the same reading. Bob.

    Is it the alternator?

My first thought would be the battery. Just because it is new does not mean it isn't defective. Take it to a auto parts store and get it checked. You should also take the alternator along and get it tested at the same time. It is one or the other that is defective. Bob.

    Engine Mount Shims?

What I meant to say was adding shims to the mount would put strain on the converter, and possibly the transmission, which in turn could cause a universal joint failure as well. I still feel it is a bad idea. The PO said nothing about adding shims to both mounts, only the side where the exhaust...

    Engine Mount Shims?

I see one problem right away. Adding a shim to raise the engine(even a little) will cause the drive shaft to bind inside the torque converter, and flatten the teeth on both surfaces(that is if the shaft doesn't break first) Another thing to consider would be added strain on the front...

    Cigarette Lighter as a power source - 65 T-Bird

My only other suggestion would be to disconnect the wire from the lighter, and run a new one that is connected to a wire that is "hot" when the ignition is on. Bob.

    Cigarette Lighter as a power source - 65 T-Bird

My guess would be to change out the fuse to a larger one for that circuit. Bob.

1964 T-bird Need Help Getting Gauge Cluster Off

A word of caution, before you get any further into the removal, cover the steering column to avoid getting it scratched when you remove the cluster. Now, if you are having a problem removing it, you may have overlooked something. This is a pretty straight forward job. First thing you need to...

    '66 T-Bird

It is located on the rear of the gauge/instrument cluster, on the top right side. To get to it, you need to remove the upper console that holds the left and right vent handles wiper switch, and clock. When that is removed, you can reach in to the left, and the cvr is on top of the instrument...
