It shouldn't take a shop long to replace a starter...unless they have to order the part and wait on it. I've never had any problems with the starter on any vehicle I've owned so I can't help you there.

There aren't many active boards for the regular Tbirds. If you get a turbo coupe then there is a very active board at http://www.turbotbird.com/

The bumper is obsolete so your options are find an aftermarket one (if available) or get one from a junkyard (about $100.00 - or less). You could spend anywhere from $500 to $2,000 plus on painting the car. Best bet is to ask some of your local paint shops what they would charge.

My personal preference is the 87-88 16" TC wheels along with a 3.55 TC rear. If you have never seen these wheels polished, go to http://www.turbotbird.com/ and look at pictures of Dan Eaves car. They look 10 times (or more) better in person than in the pictures.

You are in uncharted territory now. I looked into the option of replacing the turbo with a supercharger and did not find any manufacturers that would go along with the idea. In other words, all the R&D and trial and error is up to the person doing the install. I'm not that willing to risk...

In 302 vs sohc 4.6, I don't think the 4.6 is worth the trouble. The HO 5.0 is a drop in with minimal wiring (mass air kit) and still has more potential than the 4.6. Plus the parts are readily available for a twin turbo 5.0... I imagine that would really take people by surprise!
