    Headers and exhaust update

The stock mustang headers aren't much better than what you already have due to their crimps in the header pipes. Aftermarket shorty headers and h-pipe are best bet. www.atrperformance.com sells a stainless dual mandrel 2.5" catback for the turbo coupe, which is identical to the stock sport...

    Opinions on 1987 T-Bird LX

It shouldn't take a shop long to replace a starter...unless they have to order the part and wait on it. I've never had any problems with the starter on any vehicle I've owned so I can't help you there.

    People still come here?

There aren't many active boards for the regular Tbirds. If you get a turbo coupe then there is a very active board at http://www.turbotbird.com/

    How Much Will Repairs Cost?

The bumper is obsolete so your options are find an aftermarket one (if available) or get one from a junkyard (about $100.00 - or less). You could spend anywhere from $500 to $2,000 plus on painting the car. Best bet is to ask some of your local paint shops what they would charge.

    Stock Rims?! Why??

My personal preference is the 87-88 16" TC wheels along with a 3.55 TC rear. If you have never seen these wheels polished, go to http://www.turbotbird.com/ and look at pictures of Dan Eaves car. They look 10 times (or more) better in person than in the pictures.

    Opinions on 1987 T-Bird LX

As an owner of both an 88 Sport 5.0, and an 87 TC I can safely answer the question by saying you aren't missing much. Yes the TC top speed is higher in the 140 range vs the 5.0s 120ish. But other things such as turbo lag, little bottom end power, and very high maintenance costs compared to the...

    turbo kits?

Places like PT Turbochargers www.turbocharged.com sell both rebuild kits and new turbos. Also Tiny Avenger, www.tinyavenger.com, which is pretty popular with a lot of TC owners might be able to help. (Disclaimer: I have not bought anything from either place so I can not vouch for either of...

    87 Tubo CoupeCooling fans problem

The control module is the IRCM which is located under the hood on the passenger side by the shock tower. It is the big black box. It controls the fans, fuel pump power, and something else too (can't remember what right off hand). Sounds like that is the culprit. If you hear noises coming...

    New Engine...?

Depends on how big you want to go...The fox cars were made for 5.0s, but a 351 will fit, or you could go with a 427.

    TPS Readings

Actually the throttle plate is soaked, and there is a nice pool of synthetic oil at the base. Before there was not any oil at all in the throttle body, ic, or turbo. My concern about the T03 is the additional lag involved. I'm not sure this would be a good thing for an automatic (and the last...

    Super and turbo

You are in uncharted territory now. I looked into the option of replacing the turbo with a supercharger and did not find any manufacturers that would go along with the idea. In other words, all the R&D and trial and error is up to the person doing the install. I'm not that willing to risk...

    Ford Motorsport Wing

Not to worry Erik, right now I'd rather be spending my money on upgrading my Sport to a true dual 2.5" exhaust...the 2 90* bends in the pipe coming off the drivers side of the engine on the stock 2.25 pipe (which are also crushed in to about 1/2 size at the bends) can't be good for...

    TPS Readings

Scratched the TPS question...Okay, doing routine check over on the TC today and found oil in the throttle body and intercooler coming from the turbo. Is it worth having the turbo repaired? 87 TC with original IHI turbo with 186,xxx miles. Any suggestions? [This message has been edited by...

    460 in the birdy

In 302 vs sohc 4.6, I don't think the 4.6 is worth the trouble. The HO 5.0 is a drop in with minimal wiring (mass air kit) and still has more potential than the 4.6. Plus the parts are readily available for a twin turbo 5.0... I imagine that would really take people by surprise!

What if I just said I'll wait for Erik's top bid and then I'll add $20 to it? (j/k)

    wazzzzzzzuuuuup!?

Wow, how long has it been since you moved to Columbia? I live right on the Clemmons/Lewisville border and have seen a couple of TCs and always wondered who owned them. Would be funny if one of them had been yours. ------------------ Allan S 88 TBird Sport 87 TC
