passenger power window ? lockout switch

Whack the motor with a mallet while pushing the switch down. It may have a dead spot.

Oil pressure reading low - sometimes

Best bet is to hook up a manual gauge and check what the actual pressure is before you start to panic. Could be normal operation of the gauge with 45 years of age. Could be a sender/wiring too. Not sure if there's any adjustment on that gauge or not. Good to see another AZ birder. I'm in Mesa.

    93 hard to get started

It's been awhile but I think this has a TFI module on the distributor? (google it and look at pics). If I recall right that could be one of the issues of that going bad and you'd need to replace that and the stator in the distributor. Just a guess.

    93 hard to get started

maybe you need to be more specific then. When you threw in the coolant issue it made it sound like they were related. Look near the battery for acid eating through the plastic side tank on the radiator. the front covers leak coolant on these too and sometimes you can't see it because it's...

    93 hard to get started

3.8L were notorious for head gaskets going bad. You may want to do a block test. Does it blow white smoke out of the tailpipe or even worse...coolant dripping out?

    Trunk Mounted Power Antenna

You might luck out and find one with a good mast but bad motor and cannibalize it. That's what i did but just the opposite (I had a bad motor and found a good motor with a broken mast). I'm pretty sure all the big cars with power antennas used the same motors and all the parts are probably...

    Trunk Mounted Power Antenna

I just repaired my power antenna on my Heritage by cannibalizing the good motor from a 79 Continental. Mine was stuck up with a perfect mast (was like that when I bought it). When I got it all done I noticed the mast does not go down all the way into the fender. It sticks up a couple inches. Is...

radio and turn signals just quit

might want to make sure there's no corrosion on the fuse box terminals where the fuses attach. I had that happen to my turn signals and found dirty contacts.

    Gas spilling from fill tube

If it was the o-ring at the top of the tank (where the filler tube goes in) then it would almost certainly start to leak as soon as you filled the tank to the top (not just around turns). Also please note that there was a tool that you inserted in the filler tube in place of the gas cap in order...

    Gas spilling from fill tube

I've read about this. Seems to me I recall the fix has something to do with the seal under the gas cap being too thin or worn out? I can't see how the o-ring at the filler pipe at the tank would have anything to do with gas coming out of the filler (where you put the gas nozzle in).

    79 351M 'Bird idle problems

I bought this 79 Heritage this past summer from the original owner. It needed a bunch of stuff to get it road worthy but it ran and drove OK for the most part. I rebuilt the carb but I can't seem to figure out this crappy idle issue. I can't locate any vacuum leaks and as far as I can tell it's...

Why do 66 down birds hate 67 birds

I like the 67-69. In fact, I almost bought a 69 once (twice) but it seems (in my experience) that every time I would look at one of this generation Tbirds, there were always so many things wrong with it that didn't seem to be a problem with other year birds..like the windows coming loose or not...

    Does Your Hood Sag?

What year and model LTD (and I assume Grand Marquis?) would I be looking to snag these from? Any pics? I'm hating the saggy hood as well.

    Rag joint safety.

I drove my 79 on the freeway and white-knuckled it all the way to work. It was all over the road. I thought the front end was coming apart. I found nothing left of that joint coupler. It was a royal pain-in-the-you-know-what to replace also since the joint is obsolete and the only replacement I...

    79 headlight switch vacuum leak?

What's the diff between 77/8 & 79 switches? I snagged one off a junker a couple months ago thinking it would be good to have a spare but I can't recall if it was a 79.
