My old 292ci in my 55 tbird gave up last week. I am thinking about a swap to a 302 ci. Has anyone in the group done this and if you have can you give some advise on the problems encountered?

Just bought a 57 Bird. The speedometer doesn't work. I removed the cable at the speedo and was able to reinsert the loose cable and the speedo worked.That tell\s me the gear is probably bad. Can the gear be pulled without pulling the car apart . Any help would be appreciated.
