    Transmission oil A, F Dextron?

FYI Went bad today The Ram is (was) leaking at the seam at the end near the seal so it looked like the seal was the problem. Going to look for someone who might weld a new bead along the seam, or else buy a new one.

    Transmission oil A, F Dextron?

I got a recommendation from Hill's Automotive to use Napa " F/A" or "F" so I'll stick with that!

    Transmission oil A, F Dextron?

Hi All Type A is the recommended Transmission and Power Steering fluid for our early Birds and Fords products of the 50's What replaced Type A? Type F? Dextron?

    Power Steering leaks

I Guess "can't get it anymore" is a relative thing. I know I have been told to use F Type in the transmission and the PS, because A was not made anymore. If F works, which it does, it is much cheaper. Let me know what CASCO says. I put the system back together today.... Maybe someone else has...

    Power Steering leaks

Rusty , believe me, you must run F tranny fluid in the power steering systems that originally called for A Trans Fluid. Power steering fluid is wrong to use. And against better advice I put the Power steering stop leak stuff in. It was no really surprised it all came out. With that being said, I...

    Power Steering leaks

Bummer guys. tried TransX and all the fluid ran out again. I don't think either treatment works with the Early Bird systems. Now that it's bone dry I'll add F trans fluid and see how it holds up. Any recommendations on a replacement Ram tube?

    Power steering leak

Leaking PS ram cylinder Ok I added Lucas stop leak and it poured right out Got TransX and pretty much the same. The reservoir remains 1/4 full, but below the gauge to get a reading I guess I'll need to replace the tube..... any other thoughts?

    Power steering leak

Hi I am replying to the tip about adding Lucas power steering stop leak to my 55 system BTW I always use F type trans fluid. The Lucas is like honey, so far ,so good I squirted a few table spoons and suddenly the reservoir level dropped to almost nothing and the fluid was all on the floor...

    Power steering leak

Hi All, 55 my power steering ram cylinder piston is leaking. Can I add some transmission Stop leak additive to the system without damaging the other components? How hard is it to replace the seals without any special tools?

    Wheel Balancing & Tire issue

Well I had the issue ever since I bought the car but figured it was wheel balancing and just didn't drive the car over 55. Then I got new tires and still had the same issue. Today I was able to tighten the right wheel bearing 1/8 turn and eliminated the "play" but the LEFT wheel could not with...

    Wheel Balancing & Tire issue

FYI I drove a friends 55 equipped with radial tires mounted to wire wheels. His car has the same issue at almost the same speed. So a question To those owners who drive their cars at highway speeds of 65-70 discribe the ride. Smooth as driving at 45? 55? Rough ride over 55 with Increasing...

    Wheel Balancing & Tire issue

Front end just tightened up and an aligned by the best shops in the area! And yes I feel it and see it in the wheel No issue on the Edsel with these wheels & tires. Road force balancing exerts pressure against the tire as it is balanced. The drums have balance weights in place. Even my...

    Wheel Balancing & Tire issue

Here is the latest I switched the wheels from my Edsel (14" vs 15" ) also replica bias ply tires by Universal, so there is about a 1 inch difference in diameter The same shaking occurs, but at 55 rather than 65 mph. (measured with a Speedo App not the Speedo in the car. By the way, if I let...
