    A/C Evaporator Hoses

Great. I'll have to pull mine one of these days too to replace vacuum lines as I'm starting to have HVAC control hiccups.

    A/C Evaporator Hoses

Haven't logged in here in 10 years. Surprised my login still worked and that I remembered it. I was able to do the whole AC job with the dash in and it's still running cold after 10 years. I do remember that it was VERY tedious. Good luck!

    A/C Evaporator Hoses

Just wanted to post a follow-up on this. I finally got my A/C going, but unfortunately replacing the low pressure hose (the big hose) is not nearly as easy in a '65 as replacing the the liquid line at the expansion valve. This is because the "engine-side" nut is inside of the firewall! It...

    Undercarriage Plugs

Anyone know where I can purchase replacements for the various rubber plugs used on the undercarriage of my 65?

    Fuel pump problem?

Finally brought the car to a good mechanic and discovered there was a two-part problem: 1. vacuum advance on the distributor was shot 2. my new Holley carb came from the factory with the rear float cranked all the way in so that no fuel was getting to the rear of the carb. Turned out that...

    Membership Fee?

Just wanted to get the thoughts of others on this. Not sure how active this site would become if they start charging a membership fee. While I appreciate the time/effort/money the administrator has put into this site, a forum/bulletin board system like this is not terribly complicated to setup...

    New Carb.

    1. If going with electric choke, you'll need to find a place to hook it up (don't use the wires feeding your ignition as I believe this has been the source of several problems for me). 2. Some extra vacuum line will be useful as the hookups are in slightly different locations. 3. Get some vacuum...

    Location of Switched Relay

On my '65, I have my electric choke tied to the same wire that feeds that my Petronix ignition (and coil) and I think my choke is stealing juice from from my ignition system. Can anyone suggest a 'switched' relay that would be a better location to tie in the electronic choke on my carb. Anyone...

Have a look at <a href="http://www.tbirdranch.com/techtips.html#Shift%20Lever">these tips</a>. Also, search for "<span class="highlight">column</span>" in the search box for this forum and you'll find some good info.

    How rare are our birds?

Put my daily driver in a local show this weekend and with mine there were six Thunderbirds. All of the others were concourse-types, fully restored, and not daily drivers. The other guys (all in Acadian Thunderbird Club & VTCI, which I have now joined as well) were telling me how rare our cars...

    Fuel pump problem?

Well, I put a standard voltage coil back on my car and still had the bad hesitation for a few minutes after startup. I'm using a coil with a built-in resistor because I've completely bypassed my transistorized ignition and therefore am not using the ballast resistor or a resistor wire. When I...

    Engine knock

The first thing to try is higher octane gas. If its knocking that much though, it sounds like your timing is probably off.

    Temprature ?

Mine doesn't quite jump to 3/4 in that situation, but definitely goes up over the 1/2 way mark.

    A/C Evaporator Hoses

Seems I'm asking a lot of questions lately. Oh well. I'm in the process of fixing the broken A/C on my 65. It has never worked since I've owned the car. Anyway, I've already replaced the York with the rotary Sanden unit, but now its time to run new hoses to the evaporator. The shop manual...

    Fuel pump problem?

So do you have a stock coil getting power after going through a ballast resistor and separate power for the Petronix or are you running a standard voltage non-resistor coil?

    Fuel pump problem?

After I put in my Petronix ignition about two months ago, the car ran great. A few weeks later I started having some trouble right after startup. I've tweaked the carb a bit, and replaced the plugs and ignition wires, but can't seem to improve things. The car starts right up every day and...

    Wire near fuel pump?

Looked like it was connected and I do get an oil pressure reading on the instrument cluster. Need to just get under there and replace the wire. Thanks!

    Location of Timing Marks?

The shop manual shows a nice close up of the timing marks for my 1965, but it was so close that I could not tell where on the engine to look. I aimed my light at the spots where I suspected the marks would be, but didn't see anything. I'm guessing that either there is some grime blocking...
