    Thanks for the info. My parents live close to Cookeville. I will have to call or stop by. My problem is identical in my 1960 T-bird. I replaced the detent plate also.

    I would like to restore the car to the original 352/CruiseOMatic. Is this a solid tranny or should I consider a C6 ?

    Thanks for the information. I knew when I bought the car that the original engine was replaced with a 390ci. but not sure what tranny would be attached to it. Also would it be possible that a C4 or C6 tranny could be installed?

    What was the original automatic transmission w/352 v8? And is a ford-o-matic the same as a cruise-o-matic?

    Just an update on wiring harnesses. Found several vendors at Hershey Fall Meet that sell new replacement harnesses. You can find anything at Hershey.

    Hey thanks for the support. This is my 3rd restoration but 1st T-Bird. Have purchased shop manual and any materials that will give me an idea of how to proceed. Also thinking of upgrading to disc brakes as I plan to drive her on nice days.

    Does anyone know if someones reproducing wiring harnesses for 1960 T-Birds. Mine has been altered somewhat. I can repair most but the insulation is a bit brittlle. Any ideas are gladly accepted.Thanks

    The intake manifold has a 1966 casting. I suspect its a 390. I did replace the alternator which is also not a 1960 item. The engine runs good. This car is going to be restored but have'nt decided whether to go all original or some modern updates.

    I was informed the casting date was located there. I just wanted to know engine size. The firing order is 15426378. There's an autolite 2100 carb. on top. The throttle linkage and gas pedal are newer type from 70's.

    I have a 1960 T Bird Coupe that according to the data plate should be a 352 V8. The engine had been replaced at some point but the previous owner could only tell me its an intercepter. The expansion tank on the engine looks like a 65 or 66 style. Do I need to pull the starter to find the casting...

    Just purchased a 1960 Thunderbird hardtop. I've restored a mustang and a 1956 Ford panel truck but always wanted a TBird. Rest assured I'll have lots of questions.:patriot
