    Replacement carburetor???

So, in the interest of originality, is it worth getting an exchange rebuilt original carb?? Do they run as well as say, a 600 Holley?

How Do I track the history of my t-bird

What about local T'bird clubs etc? Has my car (for instance) ever been owned by a member? Do dealers keep a list of who picked up the car when new? Here in NZ you can go to the Post Office and get a list of previous owner for as far back as new, i.e. my 1955 F100 has all owners listed to the...

How Do I track the history of my t-bird

Me too!! I bought my '66 Town Landau in Salem, Oregon last year, I know where it was assembled etc and I know (from the Thunderbird registry) that it had been advertised in E-bay in 2002 in "Eastern Oregon" . But I would love to know how many owners, how long each had it, where they lived, how...

    HELP!!! Need seat belt

Thanks Captain Mike - I flicked them an e-mail a day or so ago, waiting for a reply. I've noticed that when I e-mail a firm in the US there is less than 50-50 chance I'll get a reply (especially the first time) but here (NZ) I get a reply every time, is this normal in the States? Just wondering.

    HELP!!! Need seat belt

Hi guys, I've looked all over, sent numerous e-mails to suppliers of classic T-Bird parts (but only two have bothered to reply!!) and in dire need of one of the seat-belts for my "66 Town Landau. It is the section on the drivers side that bolts to the transmission hump and has the latch on it...

    Mystery paint

Had a body-shop buddy over looking at the T-Bird, while looking at the negine bay he noticed the passenger side inner fender was a different colour to the rest of the car. It almost looked like it was off another car, a kind of silver-blue instead of the proper Viking Blue like the rest of the...

    Power Window Install

Since I haven't yet put my new one back in (still waiting to hear from suppliers) I'm probably not really qualified. BUT I took mine out by disconnecting the wiring, undid the bolts holding the motor etc in place then popped the clips from the roller and propped up the window with a length of...

    Rear arm-rest removal

Thanks for the advice guys. I went out to the garage and pulled up the rear seat a little amd using a mirror I noticed the locating lugs on the bottom of the seat. I then heaved upwards, man that sucker was TIGHT but it came loose in the end, once I had it out I realise two things: (a)The rear...

    Rear arm-rest removal

As all vehicles imported to New Zealand vehicles are checked fairly thoroughly for rust before being allowed on the road I need to take out my front kick-pads (done) and the rear seats and arm-rests for inspection. I have had a look at these last items and cannot see how best to remove them...

    seat belt

Once again some good timely advice from Harley! I am just about to replace the driver-side fixed section of belt (Latch does not work) and then look into the seat-belt light situation.

    Repainting interior pieces?

What is the durability of this paint - kick panels are a 'high-wear' item in a car. Mine are cracked but I will try and fibreglass the back-side of them first before I go to new ones just because they are already molded in the correct colour.

    Name That Wire!

You got me all curious bowswerhound and I went out and looked at my own 'bird - it doesn't have the wire yours has BUT now I have found my own 'mystery' black wire, only mine goes from the rear of the alternator, across behind the radiator and ends attached to nothing by the headlight wiring...

    Shift Lever Problem

Have you tried putting the old one back in to see if it still goes in o.k.?? It may be something simple like not aligning the slot the lever fits into. BTW Going to go through that excercise myself soon, also (off topic here) has anybody adjusted the starter inhibitor switch at the bottom of...

    Name That Wire!

Yep Harley, during my 'exploration' when the back-up lights didn't work I had the whole centre section of tail-lights removed, including unplugging the wiring loom. The loom goes into the trunk area about a foot to the right of the hood-latch as does the wiring for the adjacent right-side...

    Name That Wire!

Had a look at the wiring loom - doesn't look too hard to splice in the extra wires and no need to take the bumper off after all! :thumbsup

    Name That Wire!

Thanks once again Harley, I had come to that conclusion myself but couldn't believe it and thought there MUST be more to it than that!! Maybe I could (if I had the inclination) hook up the bulbs as extra tail lights AND brake-lights......

    New Zealn T'Bird

Hmm, O.K. I'll give the lever a bit of an overhaul first!! Is it a simple matter of knocking-out the rolled-pin that holds it in place?

    New Zealn T'Bird

Wiper motor is going to have to be replaced - shaft leaks so will get an exchange re-built one from the USA. Going to fix the worn shifter detent on the steering column, the workshop manual is a bit vague on stripping the top end of the column, - any hints or advice from you guys that have doen...

Rear brake hose for the 65

I'm in New Zealand and have the same problem from guys with the best intentions! My '66 is the only Landau in about a 500 mile area and there are NO T-birds or parts in this area.~!!

    Name That Wire!

Hmmm, well for some reason the three all have dual filament terminals and off-set pin-slots for the bulbs, that is why I thought the may have been additional brake-lights. It's got ME scratching my head, that's for sure.
