Yet another problem on my '66!!

Got into the trunk today, had wife operating brake-pedal, I discovered the relay on the 'switch-board' device on the back of the rear seat (inside the trunk) was getting hot and making funny intermitent noises, after whacking it with a wrench a couple of times it now clicks in and out and the...

Yet another problem on my '66!!

Well, got my back-up lights sorted, wiring was o.k. but one bulb was out (poor earth). NOW find out when I have ignition turned on or on accessory position the stop lights (brake-lights in NZ!)stay on!!!!! The only thing I have possibly done since they worked properly was to detach the relays...

Yet another problem on my '66!!

Thanks Harley, I had the parking brake release and the start inhibitor figured out, it was just the back-up light (reversing lights in New Zealand!) switch had me stumped. As my bacK-up lights don't seem to work I better get some head-scratchin' done and figure out WHY.

Yet another problem on my '66!!

Ah, mine is a FMX trans (Cruisomatic?) and the switch is on the column, I got it off and it has some of it's internal parts missing!! I'm getting a brand new switch - can't be too careful! And the C-6 in my F100 does not have a switch on it, the switch is on the T-shifter mechanism, I guess...

Yet another problem on my '66!!

O.K., getting through all the bugs in my '66 Landau, just found another one! It seems that my starter inhibitor switch (just guessing at the moment, about to go out to the workshop and find out for sure) may have worn out and won't work. So to remedy this some rocket scientist has cut one of...

    Brake shoe problem on '66

Problem solved guys!! I got to the 'need a fresh pair of eyes for this' situation and had a young mechanic (automotive technician??) to have a look, he got down on his knees, had a look and figured out the offending brake shoe was 'catching' on the backing plate at the lower inner edge, a quick...

    Brake shoe problem on '66

I looked at that and the only adjustment available is via the star-wheel at the bottom of the shoes, meddled with that without success. As you say, the drum came off o.k., what the '*^%# happened while I had it off?? Is there some small gremlin that sneaks into the garage in the middle ofthe...

    Brake shoe problem on '66

Still working on my '66 Landau, got new left-rear wheel cylinder, fitted it and went to refit drum. Had not taken shoes off backing-plate BUT when I went to refit drum it appears that front shoe (drivers side) is too 'long', i.e. it's on the adjuster at the bottom and against the anchor-pin at...

    Sounds great!...for a few seconds

Try this: take out No.1 spark-plug, get a small piece of newspaper and screw it into a wad a little bigger than the threaded section of the spark-plug. Take this wad and screw it a small ways into the spark-plug hole, firmly but not TOO tight. Get into the car, twist the key and 'bump' the...

    Sounds great!...for a few seconds

Make sure you're not a 180 degrees out when checking your bottom pulley for the timing mark, easily done!! (and you end up actually at BDC instead of TDC!)

Headlight adjuster screws and nuts needed!!!!

Great! I need one at the moment (because it's broken!) but would take two in case I break a second one. How much for p & p?

Headlight adjuster screws and nuts needed!!!!

We drive on the left in New Zealand here so headlamps have to dip to the left here, hence I have to change the US low-beam lamps. In doing so I ruined one of the nylon nuts the adjuster screw goes into. I have sent e-mails to various T-Bird part suppliers but only ONE has replied and they are...

    Shift Lever Problem

Shifter holds - just! OK, as per my previous post on this thread, I have fitted my repaired shifter and it holds in 'Park" - but only just, if I pull the shifter only about 3/8" or so towards me it will come out of the 'Park' postition. Is this normal or should it take more movement to get it...

    Shift Lever Problem

Well, in my '66 I just put the shifter in with the inner tip facing up towards the steering wheel. (i.e. the shifter knob near the dash). Once I got the shifter in a fair bit I put a 3" nail in where the rolled-pin goes and use it as a lever to help wriggle the shifter far enough to get the pin...

    HELP!!! Need seat belt

It's Back! Got my seatbelt back from Ssnakeoyl products after it did a 27,000 mile round trip. For $35 they supplied and fitted a new buckle, it matches the other original buckles perfectly - except it has less wear marks and scratches. I'm impressed with their service especially as they were...

    HELP!!! Need seat belt

I don't get the 'Scoop', how do I go about it? I'm waiting to get my seatblet back then it's just a matter of figuring how to get my Overhead Safety Control Panel working. The Door Ajar type light works but that's it, the rest need a sort-out! After messing about with my Landaus headlights (...
