    Gas Tank Filler Tube

Thanks Harley, Is it really necessary to pull the filler neck out if I'm dropping the tank? Looking at it from under the car it looks like the tank would drop out and away from the filler tube. How "Stuck" will the original o-ring be?

    Gas Tank Filler Tube

While on the subject I figured I'd better ask. since I'm about to do this job. Is there any tricks to getting the filler neck out? I made the tool shown in the shop manual and it looks like it just pulles out being held in by the o-ring in a groove. So using the tool I just pull and give it...

In Ceres (Modesto) When I started my 66 project I searched the internet for the locale T-Bird club and then sent the President of the club an E-mail to find someone to compair birds with. The only person that he could recomend was a guy in San Jose. The club is mostly older then ours birds. I'm...

So where is the Bi-Metal Relay? Located at? Mine just comes on for a few seconds then turns off so there must be a delay unit.

    Trim Sealant & Clips

I finally got my 66 Town Hardtop back from paint jail and am starting to put the pieces back on and have a couple of questions on how best to proceed with a couple of parts. The beltline trim had some black sealer around the holes where it bolted through to the inside. I want to make sure it...

    Numbers matching?

390-428 I'd say keep good documentation on the rebuild as a 428. I also took a lot of pictures. Once it’s in the car it’s really hard to tell them apart. Easiest way to tell is by looking at the flywheel for the balancing weight. Make sure you use the 428 flywheel. Don’t get it mixed up with...

    Eng. in 64

Hotrodbob, I doubt that you would find a 427 in a 64 Bird but stranger things have happend. Vavle covers and engine paint schems change and if it's not the original engine then year and model would alter what covers are on it and what color. There is a great site for these big block FE motors...

    Ignition switches

Eating Ignition Switches is going to be a short or something wired thought the switch that shouldn't be like power windows when the relay fails. You'll have to start by figuring out which curcuit is overloading and when through the switch. This is probably the toughest one to figure out. Look...

S-Bar removal help and vinyl roof

If the "S" bars on a Landau are like the bird on the Town Hardtop they mount on pins in clips. Sometimes they pop of sometimes the pins break. Like the tail script. The chrome base strips that hold down the bottom of the pillars have nuts on them and you have to pull the back seats and interior...

    Heater Hoses

That's what my 428 has but his has a 390 with the heated plate. He's under the impression that the "Y" was toward the front of the engine. Every one I've ever seen has the "Y" back by the hood hing / heater core inlets area. That's how I'm going to plum it unless someone says differently.

    Heater Hoses

Just looking to verify what I have is correct and help out a friend. He said his was hooked up with the "Y" up at the front of the car. I told him I don't think that's right. At least not on any of them that I've seen. On my 66 (428) I have the hose from the water pump goes around by the heater...

    Tint, Clear glass or what?

I looked at my 66 and it has the same code. It does appear to have a very light tint, kind of a blue hue, but you can't hardly tell unless you look at it with the door open so you can see around it at the same time.

Water pump to intake coolant hose

Just cut it off, then to replace with the same lenght, just lube up the the attaching pipes, lube the inside of the hose, bend in half with pliars, force the hose to start, take the pliars off, then hit with a small hammer or mallet, should pop right on.

    Weather Stripping for 66 Hardtop

Yes it's the town hardtop (blind quarter, no wood grain, no vinyl, bird on quarter not swoop) but the question is does the roof rail seal for a Landau fit a Town Hardtop? Are the door jams the same?

    Weather Stripping for 66 Hardtop

No rear quarter window = Landau? Thanks I'll check them out. From what I hear at other places is that most of the ones out there are Dennis Carpenter. I have a Town Hardtop. From what I'm told at Dennis Carpenter is that it is the same as a Landau. I haven't had the chance to look at one and...

    Help Removing Interior Rear Deck

I'm pulling the trim off of the "B" pillars to get ready to paint the car next week and have got the back seat out, pulled all the screws, have got the sides off and everything loose but am not sure how to get the rear interior vent deck to unhook from the rear window frame. I'm sure there are...
