Which other Forums do you Visit

I am on this forum, and also on the Yahoo Group for Flairbirds. In addition I'm on another forum for collector cars, set up by a local fellow. I can't even remember the name -- hot rods or something -- because it is so slow you're hard pressed to find one new message per year. On the other...

    sloppy squarebird shifter

I don't know if you are affiliated with the person who is offering this; actually I found it a month or two ago. There is also a detent plate for the 61-63 Bullet Birds. My problem? I have a 64 Flair Bird, and it indeed can and does shift into reverse. If I park my car in the driveway, which...

    thunderbird HQ

Speaking of VIN numbers, here's a cute story -- 100% TRUE! A local fellow stopped at his favorite watering hole in 1974; when he came out his prize 68 Charger was gone -- stolen. He called the police and reported it, a search did not turn up the car. Some 38 years later he got a phone call...

    Upgrading Stereo System

The Undercover Stealth Speakers are 8"x11"x3", or about the size of a ream of paper. Two speakers of course. For T-Birds, there is generally no problem unless you have power seats, in which case the hardware is in the way. I don't know if the speakers will fit around the seat hardware.

    Upgrading Stereo System

What exactly failed on your 230, and what were you using for speakers? As for other dealers, had they done any work recently or are they speaking from units made 5 or more years ago? Every so often I hear about how much the USA Stereos stink; when I press them on it I find their experience has...

    S&J Rebuilt Motors

I don't know about this place, but if I do this again -- and I WILL have to go though this again unfortunately -- I will buy my motor IN FLORIDA! Why? Because the "Newly rebuilt" motor I bought is a real piece of crap. After considerable work, the motor runs fairly well, but burns oil like...

    Power seat

Am I mistaken or isn't the 66 a 6-way, vs. a 4-way on the 64-65? I would suspect that the wiring connection from the harness to the seat would be the same, but who knows -- seems Ford is good at making things like this different, just enough to make it a royal pain. I would think you could...

    new member ?s

    >>>>there's another large resource in Clearwater Florida Uh, who might that be? I remember some place in St. Petersburg that did resto work on Thunderbirds, but this was around 15 years ago and they closed shop. The only parts place I know of for Big Birds in Florida is Bob's T-Bird in Ft...

    Upgrading Stereo System

Being both a dealer and a 64 T-Bird owner, maybe I can make a few comments here. Custom Autosound has quite a reputation, and much of it is earned. Their older USA-1 through 6 stereos were awful; poor quality, lousy performance, tiny buttons you can't half read, and a digital display that...

    1964 Door Hinge

My driver's door won't stay open; the lower hinge is worn such that the detents hardly work at all. Does anyone have a lower hinge assembly? This is for a 1964 hardtop; don't know if the 65/66 are the same or not.

    Show us your T-birds !!

:agree I'm normally not that big into custom work, particularly on Thunderbirds, but I really like what you've done -- particularly with the interior. All of that woodgrain on what appears to be a non-landau -- the grain on the "Bright" areas of the doors, and especially the seats. The A/C...

    1964 thunderbird seats and dash

As with most cars, you can remove the back seat cushion by pushing it back and up. There are two catches; one on each side. Just push back, lift, and it should come undone on each side. However on this car, you won't be able to actually remove the cushion without first removing both rear arm...

    motor blow by

I'm a bit curious as to WHERE you got your motor. Indeed, synthetic oil should not be used when breaking in a new motor, but is that the real problem? Did you drive the car 1,000 miles before changing this oil? My 64 390 has blow-by, was told to drive it hard for the rings to seat, but four...

    UPS man ROCKS!

Bear in mind that none of these outfits actually MAKE the parts; they just stock them for sale. Dennis Carpenter is a manufacturer, and a few of these outfits might be the only sources for specific items, but the vast majority of it is like buying your coffee creamer at 7-Eleven or Circle K...

    64 thunderbird woes

No, BREAK. This is what happens if you lost your BRAKE. :smash Speaking of which, my own 64 is sitting at a shop in Port Charlotte, geting its brakes fixed up. The 64 has drums on all four corners; I don't see this as a problem simply because millions of Fords drove billions of miles without...

    New here.

Welcome to the forum! These old Thunderbirds are head-turners ON the show field, and much more so Off the field and on the road. I can't take my car anywhere without someone tapping on their horn to give me a thumbs-up. Not that the Riviera isn't, but the T-Bird seems to be much more so...

Yahoo groups glamorbird forum is a PITA!

Actually, as an update, my computer crashed and I bought a new one. Suddenly I can post to the Flairbirds list again! I'd love to see those guys move over here, but I suppose that's up to them. I also frequent forums related to antique radio collecting, and am well aware of the newsgroup...

    Changes to the forum

Welcome to the administrator position! This forum has a lot to like; I like the appearance of it, I like the format, I like the categories, and there are some very nice people here. About the only thing I don't like is the inactivity, which is true of many car forums. Once we finally turn...

TBird Rookie needs some help - 1965 Convertible won't start

This can't get too complicated. Just about every one of these cars has a problem with starting in park. The only ones that don't are the ones that have been fixed. To start the car: Bring the steering column into position, if it isn't there already. Turn the key to start it, with your right...
