    Disassembling a '55 steering column

Decorative collar ? Do you mean the locking collar for the telescoping steering wheel? If so, these is a screw to prevent unscrewing to accidentally. With the screw removed, just unscrew the collar. Do you have a hop manual??

    Where does it go?

It looks like the wiring protector that goes in front of the radiator for the wires running from one side of the car to the other side. Maybe the two holes are for the horn wires.

'66 Town Landau Vinyl Top-needs replacing

I think you will find that the ground wire from the steering gear box to the chassis (inner fender) simply grounds the gearbox/ steering column to the car. It was used on some models that needed that ground for the horn.

'66 Town Landau Vinyl Top-needs replacing

Note that the vinyl top was originally installed between the stainless drip rail and the vehicle body. Also the vinyl was wider than what is readily available. You can, of course, install your vinyl top without removing the stainless drip rail, cutting and caulking in the drip rail trough . It...

Real world value for a 64 drop top with tonneau cover

Of course you are asking readers their opinion. I would say $30,000 is too high for a 1964. My opinion would be $20,000 to $25,000 for a true number two. However, if someone wants to sell it, it should not be that high. I sold a 1963 (true) sports roadster for $27,000 last year. This is...

Firewall ducts - and engine fumes - 1966

Do you have a shop manual?? If you do, look in there to find your answers. If you don't have a shop manual, GET ONE. You will find that all the air for the heater, ventilation and air conditioning enters the cabin at the same location. The rubber ducts for the water drains are designed to...

Firewall ducts - and engine fumes - 1966

There could be some confusion regarding what you refer to. On each side near the hinge and coming out of the firewall are water drains for the cowl area. The air inlets are on top of the cowl, a series of long slots. Air entering through these slots supply fresh air into the cabin.

I've only been working on Thunderbirds for over 20 years, but I'm unfamiliar with a ground on the ignition switch. My last Thunderbird was a 1963 Roadster. Would you mind telling me about the ignition switch ground? Harley Eaton

    Wheel Skirts

FENDER skirts were originally attached with staples. For years, I have been gluing them in place. The skirt seals I use have a flap that folds over the top edge of the skirt.
