I'll just make some comments here: First - on wire wheels. Kelsey Hayes wire wheels have 48 spokes per wheel and only came in 14" size for Fords. Other makes (not KH) made 15" wheels with a different number of spokes. I don't know what you mean by "open rear end"....Windshield wipers are...
Seems like I remember this happening to me on a 1963 Thunderbird. The rear end moved sideways enough for the tire to rub on the lip of the quarter panel.
I have four way flasher light relays available for those who may need same. These are new Ford relays, ready to install in your luggage compartment. All you need is a working switch and flasher. [email protected]
After working on these cars for over 20 years, I have never found a bad detent plate. What problem are you experiencing that leads to a need to replace the detent (it'a a big job!).
Does your car have a flexible wire coupling? Do you have a movable steering column?
How is the steering shaft connected to the gearbox? Normally, you remove the pitman arm, disconnect the steering shaft, and remove three bolts holding the gearbox to the chassis.
Yes.. There are two flashers/relays in the luggage compartment. One (with four wires) operates the rear lights and one of the front lights. The other (with three wires) works the other front light. I can supply the four wire switch (p/n C6SZ-10C838-A). You may be able to clean up the other...
I suggest you look at the car first. Weaknesses? Some will say electrical/vacuum systems. Some will say door panels and arm rests. As far as rust goes, again I say "look at the car".
