  • Hello Harley,

I am still a bit of a newby to posting and messaging and only just realized that your message was here. My apologies.

What I thought was a ground wire on closer inspection is actually two wires. One is black with a green stripe and the other one is plain black. These two wires are attached to the threaded post that comes out of the center of the ignition switch on the back. According the the wiring diagram the Black/green wire goes to the fuse box. I have cleaned everything up so these wires should be making a good connection to the ignition switch.

Last night I went through all of the electrical componants and as far as I can see the only things that arent working are the dash lights (haven't worked since I bought the car), the turn signals, radio, cigar lighter (never checked before to see if it worked) and the back up lights. Everything except the dash lights (and possibly the cigar lighter) was working prior to my last drive.

I have taken all of the fuses out and cleaned the contacts and have checked to make sure the fuses are good. One thing that I have noticed is that everything that has recently stopped working, with the exception of the cigar lighter, all run off the three 7 1/2 amp fuses on the right side of the fuse box. Could there be a problem with the fuse box?

    Do you have any suggestions?

    cheers,

    Rich
I do not know if you got my message. I've worked on Thunderbirds for a long time and my last one was a 1963. I would like to hear more about the ignition switch ground. Please send a message regarding this. Harley Eaton ([email protected])
