Emergency Brake Light

I just went downtown Baltimore, and on my way back - my emergency brake light was on but the brake wasnt on - then when I was on I-95, my brakes wouldnt take effect until i had pushed the brake pedal all the way down - the brakes still work - but obviously there is something wrong. I tried to put the emergency brake on and off several times in a parking lot and then restart the car - but nothin happened to change the light or the way my brakes work - anyone out there encounter this problem - or heard of this?!

Sounds to me like you have a brake leak or blown wheel cylinder. The light is on because you have no brake fluid.
