Getting ready to do some steering column work and want to work out one more problem I have:
The turn signals do not cancel for right turns. Seems to work fine for left turns. The signal lever feels "softer" than what I'm used to, but perhaps they we just soft for these cars. My turn signal indicators on the fenders also do not work, but I haven't troubleshot these for electrical/grounding problems. I suspicion that I do not have power going to the indicator leads, though.
Anyone have any suggestions where/what to look for to fix this problem? Could it be a turn signal switch replacement or is there more to it?
Thanks in advance for any help, you all.

Have a look at <a href="http://www.tbirdranch.com/techtips.html#Shift%20Lever">these tips</a>. Also, search for "<span class="highlight">column</span>" in the search box for this forum and you'll find some good info.

The problem, more than likely, is the sleeve around the upper steering shaft bearing. I expect it is shot to hell.. If you can move the steering wheel front to back as opposed to left to right, with some slop, the sleeve is shot. Not to difficult to replace..
