I remove them by cutting with a gas torch. To install, you need a spring compressor - a REALLY good one. Pull the spring up to the top of the spring/shock tower until you can install the upper control arm. It's best to compress the spring from the top and position yourself so you will not be hit by the spring if the spring compressor fails. Be sure your insurance is paid up! Keep other people out of the way.
