the 4.6 is a really WIDE motor and it may not fit in the tbird engine bay
you have to take into consideration the narrow space between the shock towers
in considering an engine swap don't forget to take the weight of the car into consideration
IT IS HEAVY 4700 pounds of dead weight is alot to move from a dead stop
torque is your best friend not horsepower a high horsepower engine may not
be your best bet in this case a few friends of mine have tackled this problem
1 Alberto (64 tbird)chose to go BIGGER he stuffed in a 460 (ford) but he also hacked
out the shock towers and switched to a mustang 2 front end, you see the hydroboost
braking system, and the alum radiator
2 And my buddy Nick (66 tbird), Nick is special he chose to go WAY overboard
he put in a 95 Corvette engine and tranny, O and he also put in the entire
drivetrain front and rear suspension really a cool car it gets up off the line
because he had the computer reburned and took out all the emmisions stuff
and compensated for the weight of the car with a ton more power and torque
so can you get a 4.6 in YES but it will probably take a ton of work
and be prepared to do a ton of fab work getting it to fit and work
nick is still tweaking his car it runs great but stopping is another story
the stock tbird booster is hooked up to a chevy master cylinder and it
stops but not great he may be going over to a hydroboost system like Alberto
and Alberto is SUPERCHARGING the 460 he drag races his 64 and he is shooting
for the 9's I don't think he is going to make it in the 9's but hey if he gets into
the 11 he should be happy
and this is what a tbird with corvette rims looks like if anyone is interested
nice but that is just my opinion
