One of the great improvements for the 59 bird was a greatly enhanced suspension system over the 58 model. Also the late 59 models top operation was completely automatic for both the down and up cycles. Before that there were several steps that used different switches to cycle the top operation.
the windshield will be identicle and there was deffinately some body stiffening because of the top removal.
