Rear arm-rest removal

As all vehicles imported to New Zealand vehicles are checked fairly thoroughly for rust before being allowed on the road I need to take out my front kick-pads (done) and the rear seats and arm-rests for inspection.

I have had a look at these last items and cannot see how best to remove them.
The arm-rests each have two oval 'plugs' on them, are they required to be removed to get access to screws and are they just popped out with a screwdriver?? Or are the arm-rests attached in another way??

And how is the rear seat assemblies attached? The manual is not clear on this.

Hope somebody can give me advice on this - before I wreck something trying!!
