Chevy, Thanks for the fast reply. I think your right, the part I am missing is the "drive gear", mine isn't in the distributor, it's just missing.
Can you tell by looking at yours which type you have?
My reference book lists 2 different Gears but doesn't show a picture or a diagram.
Part # 17374-A Gear Tachometer Driven ( new metal); price $38.95
and
Part # 17377 Gear Tachometer Driving; price $74.95.
Did you find that yours is connected with a set screw? just my guess that's that how they are done. Thanks again David
