It's been a long time since I had to do this. Seems like it was 11 or 12 years ago, and it still works the way it's supposed to.
What is meant by "synchronizing" the unit means the screw jacks and the control head are each set at a compatible setting. That means the screw jacks are turned to where they should be when the seat is all the way "down" and "back". The Control Head is set at "E-7", which is all the way "down" and "back". Hook up the motors and you should be good to go.
The only thing I recall that was challenging, was hooking up the motor mechanism under the seat to the clevis. There wasn't an overabundance of space in which to work.

P.S. Assuming you are taller than 5'- 8" tall, you will probably always have the seat all the way "down" & "back", and this is an academic exercise. The only time mine gets used is when someone asks to see it work. (they usually don't work in most cars).
