Amazingly enough, I fixed my sister's T-bird of the same problem, hers is a '92 V6. She had too much oil in the car and it didn't help that the thermostat was bad. The guys at the parts store tried to give me a thermostat that allowed it to go up to 197 degrees, which I felt was a little high. A small block chevy thermostat will work and the range of thermostat tempertaure tolerances are greater. I got a 180 thermostat and put it in and after I fixed it, we turned on the AC and blasted off at full speed and the needle never went over the "N" on the gauge. Lower the operating temperature and it might fix your problem.
