Well, I've gone and done it. I got 15"x8" wagon wheels and four P255/60 R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's for the Cougar last weekend. They look fantastic, and the handling of the car with these ample meats is simply fantastic! I don't think I've driven a car yet with as much lateral grip. Now, since the front springs are still very soft (I haven't gotten around to replacing them with stiffer ones; anyone have any idea where I might get stiffer ones from a junkyard application that I might be able to cut down, etc?), going over REALLY serious bumps the sides of the tires rub a little bit up in the inner fender, but its nothing a little creative hammering won't fix easily enough. :)
Also, since the front wheel isn't centered in the front wheel well, occasionally when I'm turning sharply and I go over a bump, the tire will rub the bottom radius of the rear of the front wheel well a little bit. Again, a little bit of bending here will go a long way. But overall, I'm extremely pleased to announce that yes, indeed, P255 tires do fit quite nicely on our Cougars and Birds. Let the rejoicing begin! :D
