I used 215/75 and 225/75 tires on my 65 Bird for 225K miles with no problems and recommend only these 2 sizes. Any other sizes like 215/70 or 215/60 make sure sidewalls do not rub against anything on full right & Left turns and the chassis doesn't sit too low to " bottom out" at driveways. Since your car "squirms" at low speeds, have the tire man spin the rims without tires to make sure the rims have not been bent climbing curbs in the past. Last thing make sure you have stock rims, the center hole of the rim MUST fit snug on the hubs for safety .
