Not sure what happened to my previous message on this, but let's give it another shot.

So, you're going to add courtesy lights; nice challenge.

Normally, you could just splice into the main wiring harness that runs along the floor to the rear running lights, making sure you have power and a good ground. But this simple hook-up won't work.

Courtesy lights should only activate/come on when the car doors are opened or when the knob on the headlight switch is turned to the left to activate the cabin lights. So, you are going to have to locate that particular circuit/power source. A schematic sounds like the simplest way to locate that circuit. If my thinking is correct, you'll have to start your wiring hook-up under the dash near the headlight switch. Wish I could be more specific. Keep us informed.
