Thanks Yellowbird, I gave the fuses a quick visual check to make sure they weren't burnt out but didn't take them out. I put new fuses in the day before the problem started so maybe I did something then.

Harley, I am talking about the black wire that attaches to the threaded post on the back of the ignition switch. I assumed it must be a ground wire because it was black but like I said before, my knowledge of auto electronics is very poor. I believe that the ignition switch is the original but can't confirm that.
