Check the battery and Engine ground. Even with new cables you need to scratch them up a bit with a terminal cleaner or small brass or stainless wire brush - clean both ends really well and use new bolts and washers at ground points and mounting posts. I have more than a few "NEW" alternators fail right out of the box and like jasonrpeck 66 mentioned could always be a bad battery.
